LL.M.
student life starts with the vibrant LL.M. student community. The selectiveness of our program ensures that
each student gets the necessary support unique to each student’s needs. We also work hard to help our LL.M. students
engage each other from the moment they arrive on campus in mid-August. Events include a week-long orientation
program at the beginning of the school year to a range of social events,
symposia, court visits, and other outings throughout the year. By the end of the year, our LL.M. students
have become friends for life.
Boston College Law School Community
Our
LL.M. program also integrates LL.M. students into the Boston College Law School Community. LL.M. students and J.D.
students have a common law school experience and view each other as colleagues.
Each LL.M. student is paired with one or two J.D. student "buddies." The student buddies introduce LL.M. students
to life as a U.S. law school student.
Boston
College Law School enjoys a vibrant community of students, faculty, and visitors
interested in international matters in particular. This includes several
internationally oriented students organizations within Boston College Law
School, and the Graduate International Student Association affiliated with the
University's Office of International Students and Scholars. To enhance the
experience, we offer an International Legal Studies Colloquium, a periodic
gathering of students, faculty, and others for the discussion of ongoing work
in the field.
Boston College life
LL.M.
students' lives are enriched by the life of Boston College as a whole.
Opportunities include the plays and concerts performed in the Robsham Theatre
on the main campus; Saturday afternoon football games before a roaring home
crowd in Alumni Stadium; exhibitions of world-renowned paintings and sculptures
in the McMullen Museum of Art; and the dozens of other cultural, educational,
and sporting events that take place in every part of the campus each week.
A
variety of the University's clubs and groups welcome graduate students, and the
Campus Recreation (BC Rec) host a wide variety of recreational programs,
including fitness, aquatics, outdoor adventures, intramurals, club sports,
tennis, dance, and youth programs. Campus Recreation memberships include access
to both the Flynn Recreation Complex and the Quonset Hut, a satellite facility
located on the Newton Campus.
Location
Boston College Law School is only eight miles from downtown Boston and offers fast access to
the city by car or public transit. The Boston legal community is wide and
varied, a center for federal and state courts, law firms, government agencies
and other legal institutions. Boston is
both the first city of New England and a premier center of education in the U.S.
The city’s large student population has a noticeable influence on its
atmosphere and activities as well as adds to Boston’s diversity. As a result,
area campuses and community organizations offer various programs and events
appealing to a wide range of interests and cultures.
