Orrick achieved a complete victory in a patent infringement action at the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) on February 21, 2019 for our clients Shanghai Sansi Electronic Engineering Co. (Sansi), CreateLED Electronics Co. (CreateLED) and Yaham Optoelectronics Co. (Yaham), following the termination of a Section 337 investigation (337-TA-1114) based on withdrawal of the complaint by Ultravision Technologies, LLC. The victory in this case enables our clients to stay in the U.S. market, marking a crucial milestone for their overseas expansions.
Ultravision filed a complaint against Sansi, Yaham, CreateLED, and a number of other respondents in March 2018 for alleged infringement of patents relating to certain modular LED display panels and components. The Orrick team, working with our clients, developed strong non-infringement and invalidity positions. The complainant was forced to withdraw the complaint during the expert discovery period to terminate the investigation unconditionally.
