Publié mardi 5 février 2019

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) has appointed partner Andrew Hart as its global head of dispute resolution. Andrew takes over from David Scott who has just completed his four-year term in the role and will be continuing his client work. Sarah Parkes has been appointed as head of the London dispute resolution group to provide additional focus for the substantial London practice group.

Andrew, who has been a partner with Freshfields since 1997, has been a leader in the litigation field for many years, scoring notable trial successes for Deloitte, Rothschild and Deutsche Bank, as well as representing clients on regulatory aspects of many of the largest global financial problems. Most of his work has been cross-border in nature.  He has spent significant periods of time assisting building up the US litigation team and previous leadership roles at the firm include  a four year stint as head of the global financial institutions group.

Sarah has been a partner in the firm’s dispute resolution group since 2008 and specialises in complex financial services litigation, investigation and regulatory enforcement proceedings. Sarah also advises financial institutions and corporates on sanctions issues.

The Freshfields dispute resolution practice spans 19 offices with more than 800 lawyers and is recognised as having market leading litigation, arbitration, investigation and risk management practices across the globe.

Recent notable successes for the global dispute resolution team include helping Mastercard defeat a £14bn consumer class action claim and acting for Volkswagen in its global defence during the diesel emissions scandal.

When asked about the appointments senior partner Edward Braham said:
